Information Technology Salary Overview

How much do IT Techs Make?

Aside from having a rather stellar career outlook, becoming an IT Technician can be quite lucrative as well. National studies show that 25-50% of IT Techs across the country earn on average anywhere between $73,490 and $95,170 a year.

The tech savvy California metropolitan areas of Silicon Valley and Los Angeles are amongst the top paying areas for technicians. With new net start-ups and creative ventures burgeoning everywhere you look it’s no surprise that there is an ever-increasing demand for those with the knowledge and skills necessary to power the machines that make the magic happen in the Golden State. However, overall the Eastern Seaboard still edges out California in terms of top paying states. Maryland, Delaware and New York place first, second and third respectively.

Interestingly enough the top paying industries for this degree type are the rail transportation and banking industries – both of which require a finely tuned attention to detail and precise accuracy. Naturally the field you ultimately end up in depends on the type of IT Certification you pursue but it just goes to show that the possibilities are near limitless with such an in-demand degree profession.
